Introducing
"Every piece starts the way I did, with a handful of something small, and a lot of love."
Where it began...
My love of jewellery didn't start with a workshop or a diploma. It started with my Grandma's beads — a jumble of colour and texture I'd sort through for hours, just for the pleasure of holding them. I began making bead and wire jewellery as a child, selling my first pieces at church fairs long before I ever touched silver. What I make today still carries that same simple pleasure I felt as a girl with a handful of beads.
Learning the craft
That early love of making didn't stay a hobby for long. I trained as a jeweller over three years in Swansea, then kept learning — stone setting, casting, carving — because there was always another technique I wanted to understand properly. Two decades on, I'm still learning. Every piece I make today carries all of that training in it, even the small, simple ones.
Developing my business and growing from One Little Hut
That little pink hut became my workshop for over a decade. It's where I taught myself patience, where I made my first hundred pieces, and where One Little Hut grew from a hobby into a proper business. Every skill I use today — every technique, every shortcut, every instinct for a finish that isn't quite right yet — I learned at that workbench.
"My business has grown and changed since those early days in the little hut, and now trades under my own name, Emily Craig Jewellery. What hasn't changed is the care I put into every piece".
Today
I still make everything by hand, from the first sketch to the final polish. Every piece is made to order, and nothing is rushed. I use recycled precious metals and traceable, ethically sourced gemstones, because that matters to me as much as the finished piece does. My inspiration comes from the everyday — walking the dogs along the Gower coast, the colours and textures I find in rockpools, the changing light on the sea. Whether it's a simple stacking ring or a bespoke commission built from a client's own jewellery, it gets the same attention at the bench.
